Pink Fest Code of Conduct for our Partner Events

Pink Fest Partner Events featured on our website and calendar attract a diverse range of attendees with different identities, perspectives, and experiences. It is important that we share a common understanding of appropriate behaviour.

We are committed to creating events that are safe, respectful, inclusive, and enjoyable. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for you and your event. While these expectations have always been in place, we are making them explicit this year for clarity.

This document is intended to be clear, not intimidating. If anything is unclear, or if you have questions before or during your event, please reach out to the Pink Fest Committee. We are here to support you.

What We Ask of Everyone

1. RESPECT AND  INCLUSIVITY

Treat all participants with respect and courtesy, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, ability, or any other characteristic. Be mindful of the diverse perspectives within our community, and engage in constructive, inclusive conversations.

Use the names and pronouns individuals share with you. If you are unsure, ask, or use neutral language until you know.

Deliberate misgendering or deadnaming is not acceptable.

2. SAFE AND WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT

Help create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

3. INCLUSIVE LANGUAGE

Use inclusive and respectful language that fosters a positive and affirming atmosphere for everyone.

4. PARTICIPATION

Engage in discussions and activities in a constructive and positive manner. Ensure everyone has an opportunity to voice their opinions and ideas.

5. COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL LAWS

Abide by all applicable laws and regulations. Pink Fest does not assume liability for partner-run events.

Note to Partner Event Organisers:

Partner events are independently organised and operated. While part of Pink Fest and featured on our website, each event remains fully owned and managed by the organiser.

As the organiser, you are solely responsible for all aspects of your event, including planning, execution, and compliance with any legal or regulatory requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, securing any necessary permits or licences, managing the venue, arranging equipment and staffing, and covering all associated costs.

You have full creative control over your event, including format, timing, and ticketing. Where applicable, decisions such as pricing and admissions are at your discretion and responsibility.

6. CONFIDENTIALITY

Keep personal information private and only share it with consent. Do not photograph or record individuals that have indicated they do not want their photos taken. Obtain permission before publicly identifying any attendee, including on social media or websites.

We recognise that safety is not only physical. It includes the right to participate without fear of being outed, harassed, or misrepresented. Some LGBTQ individuals may not be publicly out, so confidentiality is a shared responsibility.

While anonymity cannot be fully guaranteed at public events, we will take all reasonable steps to minimise the risk of unwanted identification.

CONSEQUENCES OF VIOLATION

Violation of this code of conduct may result in removal of your event from Pink Fest Calendar, Website and social media mentions.

THANK YOU

The Pink Fest Committee
