Rainbow Families: Dear Home (LGBTQ+ Exhibition)

Rainbow Families is holding an exhibition at Projector X: Picturehouse from 2-11 June this year!

The exhibition is titled “Rainbow Families: Dear Home”, and explores what home really means to LGBTQ+ people in Singapore. The exhibition space transforms a corridor within venue sponsor Projector X: Picturehouse (The Cathay) into a walk-through home setup, with various rooms in the “home” being represented along the corridor. Each room reflects a different aspect of the definition of being home and belonging, and the exhibition as a whole aims to start difficult conversations about parental acceptance of LGBTQ+ persons in Singapore. 

Visitors will be invited to participate in immersive and interactive activities throughout the various rooms, such as creating mini dioramas, watching a documentary that interviews parents of queer individuals about love and acceptance, as well as letter writing activities.

We’re working with scent maker Crystal (she/her), who runs Crys Knick Knacks, to create a sensorial experience with custom scents for each room in the exhibition. The scents were designed to evoke memories of home and make the journey through exhibits even more inviting!
