His remarkable compositional output was often inspired by his artistic and life partner\, tenor Peter Pears. \n\nIn this recital\, we will be exploring their profound artistic and personal relationship through a selection of Britten’s intensely evocative songs. You will hear selections from his Seven Sonnets of Michelangelo which Pears described as the greatest gift Britten gave him\, Winter Words\, Cabaret Songs and Folksong Arrangements. Readings from their personal letters (often emotional and witty) will also be woven into the recital.\n\nFeaturing acclaimed tenors Alan Lau and Leslie Tay\, renowned soprano Akiko Otao\, charismatic narrator Tan Shou Chen and pianist Pauline Lee\, this recital showcases Britten’s extraordinary sensitivity to voice and text\, offering a spectrum of colour\, character\, and intimacy.
